Not a typical Caribbean island as you imagine. Nevertheless it has a particular charm and so many people on the cruise rated it as one of their favourites. Bonaire is primarily a desert island. It is out of the hurricane belt and has a consistant average 82 degrees temp all year round. There are no buses or large developments and no street vendors. The island is a Marine Park and is a divers and snorkellers paradise. Our tip for an idyllic few hours on Bonaire is to leave the ship and turn right. You will come to the Divi Resort and apparently the snorkelling is excellent. We didn't stop here but walked through the resort to the Plaza. Now this WAS paradise. For $5 a sun lounger could be rented and also the use of the pool. You will be in the company of Iguanas, palm trees and a small but beautiful white beach with fantastic snorkelling.Lunch can be eaten at the resorts open air restaurant and a stroll around the grounds will leave you open mouthed The resort is about 10 minutes from the ship and will leave you with happy memories. Thanks to Janice Hemmings for this.
