Barbados! Thoughts of Palm Trees, Golden beaches and Blue skies. Yes its all here. Yes it is a beautiful island but it wasn't the best island we visited as it was too commercialised. There was none of the traditional feel about it and it was quite expensive. We were there on Easter Sunday, so the majority of the facilities were closed and the tours available were restricted. The cruise terminal shops were all open, however. The currency is use is the Barbados dollar (B$) but Us dollars and credit cards are accepted everywhere.
The beaches are great but it is dangerous to swim on the east (Atlantic side) due to currents. The Caribbean side is fine.
If you wish to use your mobile phone here you will need to set up Triband with your mobile phone company before you leave the UK.

We took the Coast To Coast tour by coach. First stop was the Highland Adventure Centre in Scotland district where we stopped for a drink and to admire the views. There is a pottery stall here. The black Starling like birds with the yellow eyes you see here and elsewhere are Carib Grackles and are as tame as our starlings. There are toilets here. Carrying on we reached the Atlantic Coast with its beautiful beaches at Barclays Park. We then carried on to St.John's church with its views. There is a shop here selling souvenirs and toilets ( Not brilliant!) here. We then travelled back to Bridgetown via Gun Hill station and Trafalgar square. Look out for Green Monkeys and Mongooses (or is it mongeese!) even on the outskirts of Bridgetown.
This was quite a good tour especially for those with walking difficulties. As said previously the tour program was restricted due to its being Easter Sunday.
